Constipation is a common gastrointestinal problem and refers to infrequent bowel movements or difficult passage of stools. Typically, if a person has not moved the bowels for 3 successive days, the intestinal contents harden, and the person experiences difficulty or even pain during defecation.

Constipation is the most common digestive complaint in the United States. Symptoms of Constipation may include:
